On December 6, 2008, Huaneng Gangdeng Dali Dafengba Wind Farm was put into operation after 1 year
of construction. This is now the wind farm with the highest elevation in China and the first large wind power
project in Yunnan Province.
Located on a mountain ridge nearly 12km south of Dali, Yunnan Province, where the altitude above sea level
is 2400~2800m, the wind farm is constructed by Huaneng Gangdeng Dali Wind Power Generation Co., Ltd.,
involving an investment of 470 million Yuan. The total installed capacity of the project is 48MW with 64 wind power
units of 750KW each. The designed annual output is 82.62 million KWh. Construction started on October 12, 2007.
After the project being put into operation, 27,000 tons of standard coal can be saved and 89,000 tons of carbon emission
can be reduced each year.
Dafengba wind farm is the first wind power project developed by China Huaneng Group in Yunnan and has set an
example for the development of wind power in Yunnan Province. Its operation is a mark that China Huaneng Group
has made a major achievement in the development of new energy in Yunnan and added brightness to the “Colorful
Yunnan” environmental protection initiative, with great significance for implementing the state strategy of developing the
western regions and accelerating the development of clean and renewable energies.
